How Door Scores work
Every garage door company in Utah and Idaho gets a Door Score from 0 to 100, computed the same way for everyone, from public data. We do not collect or host our own reviews, and companies cannot pay to change a score. Advertising on DoorScores (always labeled) buys placement — never points.
The four pillars
Customer reputation
55%The company's Google rating, adjusted for sample size. A 5.0 from 8 reviews is treated more cautiously than a 4.8 from 400 — small samples are pulled toward the regional average until enough customers have weighed in.
Track record
20%Contractor licensing status and years in business, where we can verify them from state records (Utah DOPL and the Idaho Contractors Board). When we have no data for this pillar, it is excluded and its weight is redistributed — never counted against a company.
Review volume
15%How many customers have reviewed the company, on a logarithmic scale — the difference between 10 and 100 reviews matters much more than the difference between 400 and 500.
Reachability
10%Whether the company maintains a working website, phone number, and listed address.
Data sources
Ratings and review counts come from each company's public Google Business Profile, refreshed on a regular cycle. Licensing data comes from state contractor registries. If a company believes its data is out of date, it can contact us to request a refresh — refreshes re-pull public data; they never edit it.
Independence & advertising
DoorScores is supported by advertising from featured partners, including the partner that fulfills quote requests submitted on this site. Those relationships are always labeled where they appear and are described in our advertising disclosure. They have no input into scores, rankings, or which companies are listed.
